Come enjoy a festive Holiday concert with the soft glow of candlelight! This concert features an uplifting performance of Vivaldi’s “Gloria”. From the genre of cantata-mass, this hybrid form is set for solo voices, choir, and orchestra! Textural contrast, expressive variety, and emotion arise from the words of the mass in this Baroque-style performance.

Thalia Burd has been teaching music in Colorado for sixteen years and is in her fifth year as the Choral Director at Erie High School. Originally from Loveland, CO, she graduated from the University of Colorado with a Bachelor’s Degree in Vocal Performance and Theater. She then continued her education at Colorado State University, earning a Master's degree in Music Education and Conducting.

Thalia Burd has been teaching music in Colorado for sixteen years and is in her fifth year as the Choral Director at Erie High School. Originally from Loveland, CO, she graduated from the University of Colorado with a Bachelor’s Degree in Vocal Performance and Theater. She holds an affinity for music of the Classical period, and particularly enjoys the intimacy of the song recital. In 2020, she stepped in to sing Musetta with Boulder Opera Company as a last minute replacement. Other recent performances include Messiah with the Longmont Symphony Orchestra and the Hot Springs Music Festival, Donna Elvira in Denver Immersive Opera’s production of Giovanna’s, concerts with the Boulder Bach Festival, as well as numerous chamber concerts with Duet Azure. Ms. Kotcherguina has also performed Schubert’s Mass in G Major with the Longmont Symphony Orchestra, concerts with the Boulder Chamber Orchestra, Boulder Opera Company, Seicento Baroque Ensemble, as well as chamber and solo recitals across the Colorado Front Range, Arkansas, Virginia, France, and Russia.
Winner of the 2017 Denver Lyric Opera Guild Competition, Ms. Kotcherguina received her Performance Certificate in Opera and Solo Vocal Performance from the University of Colorado Boulder. In 2019, Ms. Kotcherguina placed at the West Central NATSAA regional competition, was a semifinalist in the 15th Concours International de Musique de Chambre de Lyon.
An active voice teacher, Ms. Kotcherguina currently works as a Vocal Instructor at the Neighborhood Music School in Denver, CO. Her ‘23-’24 season engagements include Die Gräfin (Die Hochzeit des Figaro) in Germany, collaborations with Art Song Colorado and Duet Azure, as well as performances with Opera Company of Middlebury, and the acclaimed German for Singers program with Middlebury College in Vermont.
Kailyn Martino, Soprano II
Kailyn Martino is a soprano from Pittsburgh, PA. She is currently a graduate student in Voice Performance and Pedagogy at CU Boulder, thrilled to make her debut with LSO.

Most recently, she performed the role of Nannetta in CU’s production of Falstaff. She studies voice with Prof. Jennifer Bird-Arvidsson. In 2020, she graduated from Baldwin Wallace Conservatory of Music with a BM in Voice Performance. Prior to cancellation due to COVID-19, Kailyn prepared Poulenc’s monodrama, La Voix Humaine, with Baldwin Wallace Opera. In 2018, she was Younger Alyce in the Midwest premiere of Tom Cipullo’s Glory Denied. She was also the 2018 recipient of the Hakola Prize for Academic & Vocal Excellence. She has performed roles with Cleveland Opera Theater, Hawaii Performing Arts Festival, Harrower Summer Opera and more.

Her students, both former and current, are gracing the top Classical, Musical Theatre, and Commercial stages around the nation. Her extensive teaching resume includes serving on the voice faculties at CU Boulder, Metropolitan State University of Denver, Colorado State University, Front Range Community College, Denver School of the Arts, and the Rocky Mountain Center for Musical Arts.
With a background in both Music Education (BME-Univ. of Northern Iowa) and Vocal Performance (MM-CU Boulder), Sarah offers expert teaching in a positive, welcoming environment. Equally proficient in Classical and CCM pedagogies, she offers technical and musical foundations for students of all ages.Her experience spans private vocal instruction, audition and acting coaching, conducting ensembles, teaching coursework, and directing stage productions for singers of all ages and abilities. In addition to sustaining a busy performance schedule, Sarah currently serves as a Teaching Artist with Central City Opera and maintains a select private vocal studio in Broomfield, CO.
