Music Scholarships

The Longmont Symphony Orchestra offers high school seniors the opportunity to receive Music Scholarships for their college pursuits. Each Spring, these scholarships are presented to a graduating Senior pursuing a college education in music.

Gary L. Dicks Memorial Scholarship

The Longmont Symphony Orchestra—alongside the Nancy L. Nixon Foundation—has established a Memorial Fund honoring the late Gary Dicks, who was a long time member of LSO’s trombone section. 

  • Any senior attending St. Vrain Valley Public Schools scheduled to graduate this year pursuing a college education in music.

  • Students must be accepted and attend an accredited two-year or four-year college or university. Extra consideration given to students attending in-state supported institutions.

  • The Nancy L. Nixon Foundation

  • The $1,000 scholarship will be awarded locally. Payable in one payment directly to the college selected by recipient.

  • The LSO Selection Committee

Scholarship: $1,000 USD
Deadline: April 1, 2025 (at the Counseling office)

Ray Parnaby Memorial Scholarship

The Longmont Symphony Orchestra—alongside the Nancy L. Nixon Foundation—has established a Memorial Fund honoring the late Ray Parnaby, who was a long time member of LSO’s trumpet section.

  • Any senior attending St. Vrain Valley Public Schools scheduled to graduate this year pursuing a college education in music.

Margaret Spangler Music Performance Scholarship

The Longmont Symphony Orchestra has established a Music Performance Scholarship sponsored by Margaret & Jerry Spangler. 

  • Any senior attending St. Vrain Valley Public Schools scheduled to graduate this year pursuing a college education in music.

  • Students must be accepted and attend an accredited two-year or four-year college or university. Extra consideration given to students attending in-state supported institutions.
