Featuring Anna Shelest, Piano | We kick off our 59th season with Kodály’s brilliant orchestral work, Dances of Galánta, a piece that links the musical cultures of Western and Eastern Europe. Influenced by Rachmaninoff, Liszt, and Tchaikovsky, the Ukrainian composer Sergei Bortkiewicz composed this lush and deeply emotional Piano Concerto No. 1 in 1912; Ukrainian Pianist Anna Shelest joins the Longmont Symphony to bring this rarely performed gem to the Front Range. And the LSO performs Brahms’s most popular symphony to round out this program of cultural connections.
Join us for the Pre-Concert talk at 6pm.
